ROHS is an acronym for the EU directive titled “Reduction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment”. This directive took effect in Europe in July 1, 2006 and restricts the use of various known carcinogenic and hazardous compounds from electrical equipment, including compounds containing the hexavalent form of chromium.
